Poker is not only one of the card games that attract a biggest amount of players, in both online poker rooms and the poker tables at the traditional land based casinos.
Moreover, charity poker tournaments have proved to be a total success in both the number of participation achieved and the quantity of money raised. One of the best examples is without any doubt the organization known as Ante Up for Africa, created in 2006 for the “Hotel Rwanda” star Don Cheadle, the poker player Annie Duke and Norman Epstein. The aim of this organization is to create awareness of the problems in Danfur (Sudan) and raise money to help their inhabitants.
The three co-founders agree on the fact that a properly organized poker events can raise between $20.000 and $30.000. Annie Duke explain the success of this type of events due to the fact that the majority of people is really looking forward an opportunity where they can contribute to a good cause, especially if they can have a good time doing it! So, as you can see, poker is not only a fun game, but also it can help to raise money for a good cause!
